The renovation started in April 2006. The first stage was to take down the wall in the old kitchen to make one larger room. The other major change was to move the wall in the bathroom to make it bigger. In the living room the old chimney was romoved, but the ornate bedroom chimney remains. All the electrics were modernised and central heating was added, with the boiler having to be placed in the bathroom ventilated by the main chimney of the building. The ceilings are near 4m high which is impressive in the hallway and main reception rooms, but I wanted them lower in the kitchen and bathroom. Before decorating could start all the walls needed re-plastering and then fixing.
